TICKETED OFFSITE EVENT: Beloved and bestselling culinary writer Deb Perelman returns to town to share her third cookbook, Smitten Kitchen Keepers—a fantastic collection of essential recipes for meals you'll want to prepare again and again—from Cozy Chicken and Dumplings to Fettuccine with White Ragú, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies to Strawberry Summer Stack Cake. Perelman will be in conversation with Lily Belli, food and drink correspondent at Lookout Santa Cruz.

Deb Perelman is the author of two best-selling cookbooks; one of the internet's most successful food bloggers, the creator of a homegrown brand with more than a million Instagram followers; and the self-taught cook with the tiny kitchen who obsessively tests her recipes to make sure that no bowls are wasted and that the results are always worth the effort.

In her third book, Smitten Kitchen Keepers: New Classics for Your Forever Files, Perelman gives us 100 recipes (including a few favorites from her site) that aim to make shopping easier, preparation more practical and enjoyable, and food more reliably delicious for the home cook.

DEB PERELMAN is a self-taught home cook and photographer and the creator of the award-winning blog She lives in New York City with her husband and their children.

LILY BELLI is the food and drink correspondent at Lookout Santa Cruz. Over the past fifteen years since she made Santa Cruz her home, Lily has fallen deeply in love with its rich food culture, vibrant agriculture and creative minds. Lily has reported on Santa Cruz County’s food scene for the past ten years, and attempts to widen the lens beyond “what’s good to eat” at the many excellent local brick-and-mortar establishments to include trends and industry news, from craft beer, food trucks and pop ups, and to the agriculture industry and labor market. 

Lily was a staff writer at alt-weekly Good Times, and has also written for Edible Monterey Bay, Santa Cruz Weekly and Thrillist. In between, she has worked in the craft beer and local wine industries. She has also been at the helm at local food-centric events, including the Santa Cruz County Fermentation Festival, Hop ‘N Barley Festival, and Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing’s Twisted Tasting. 

Lily lives on the Westside in Santa Cruz with her husband, toddler and dog. She loves cooking for friends and family, trying fermentation and canning projects and visiting Santa Cruz County’s beautiful outdoors.
