Focus: Eating Less Meat
Book: In My Kitchen: A Collection of New and Favorite Vegetarian Recipes by Deborah Madison
My wellness goal is to incorporate more vegetarian meals into my family’s repertoire. I have been Bookshop’s cookbook buyer for over 20 years, so it’s no surprise that I love to cook, but I’ve found myself too reliant on meat to complete a meal. I was a vegetarian for six years before having kids, but then came exhaustion (hello, twins!) and everything got pared down to getting pretty much anything edible on the table.
Now that our kids are older (and we have the good fortune that they actually like vegetables), I want to focus on making more meatless meals. It’s going to be hard to break away from our typical meat + starch + veggie + salad routine (especially on weeknights, and especially if I haven’t planned ahead), but with this collection of favorite recipes by the wonderful Deborah Madison as my guide, I’m feeling optimistic.
Mid-month Check-in: Although some travel this month interupted my momentum to cook more meatless-ly, I was still inspired to make vegetarian meal choices wherever we went. I'm looking forward to getting back to my own kitchen and cooking through Deborah Madison's book.
