On July 11th at 7:00 pm, phren-Z presents a reading of the Santa Cruz Poetry Project’s Poetry in the Jails program. Ellen Bass began this program while she was Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz County to bring poetry to incarcerated men and women. She will be reading along with co-founder Nancy Miller Gomez and other writers and poets who teach in the local jails, including Renee Winter, Barbara Leon, Deb Culmer, Sally Neas, Julie Murphy, Dennis Morton, and Ken Weisner.
phren-Z—a quarterly online literary magazine dedicated to showcasing Santa Cruz writers—is a publication of Santa Cruz Writes, a grass roots organization dedicated to promoting the local literary community. Santa Cruz Writes is a sponsored project of the William James Association, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. Visit www.phren-z.org for more information.
This free event will take place at Bookshop Santa Cruz. Chairs for open seating are usually set up about an hour before the event begins. If you have any ADA accommodation requests, please e-mail us at info@bookshopsantacruz.com by July 10th, 2019.
