Alex & Ada by Jonathan Luna

Alex is lonely, still recovering from a recent breakup. He misses that human connection, but it’s hard to meet new people. I’ve been obsessed with stories about A.I. lately, and boy does this one ever hit the spot. It's full of thought provoking ideas, excellent characters, compelling questions about humanity, and what it means to have the power bestow that humanity.

The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage by Sydney Padua

Do you like science? Or historical figures, like Charles Babbage (father of the computer) or Ada Lovelace (mother of computer coding)? What if those same historical figures were reimagined as crime fighters in steampunk London? Then, friend, you would have found that truly magical thing you didn’t know you were looking for: The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage. Hilarious, witty, and imaginative: You can’t miss this!

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

If you are at all a fan of graphic novels, or memoirs, or really excellent and honest writing, you need to check out this book. Marjane recounts her life growing up in Iran during the Islamic revolution, while being insightful, funny and heartfelt. The art is simple but evocative, and flows naturally with her writing style. I cannot recommend it enough!

Just the Tips by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky

Sex is awesome, but let’s be honest, it can also be really awkward. In my (and Matt Fraction’s) opinion, a lot of the awkward comes from an unwillingness to talk about and yes, laugh about sex and all the weird awkward things that come along with it. So take a moment to laugh with this little book, and remember that anything worth doing should be fun as well.

In Real Life by Cory Doctorow

Anda finds her calling in Coarsegold Online, a multiplayer online roleplaying game. When she is ordered to wipe out in-game gold farmers—players paid pennies a day to gather valuable items for other players—she does so without a second thought. But things change when she "meets" Raymond, whose work as a gold farmer may be his only hope at treating his very real illness. With Gamergate still very much a timely topic, this incredibly illustrated graphic novel should be required reading for anyone making enemies and friends online.

The Wicked and the Divine by Kieron Gillen

A group of gods take over the bodies of twelve young people to live as more-than-mortal for two years. They have fame, fortune and everything those things entail. But as the mortal girl who is drawn into their world discovers, there is more than the glittery sheen of celebrity to the pantheon, including intrigue, secrets and murder. I can’t recommend it enough.

Ms. Marvel by G. Willow Wilson

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the original Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), but when someone new was set to take up the mantel, I was understandably nervous. Kamala Khan exceeded all expectations. She's funny, excitable, and every bit the awkward teenager you'd expect. You don't need to know the whole (or any of the) history to love Kamala and this volume.
