Life After Life is the strangest and sharpest novel I’ve read this year. The central character, Ursula, dies and is repeatedly reborn throughout her long and complicated life. It’s rather like reincarnation, but she always comes back as herself. It’s when she begins to remember details from her past “lives,” and use them to survive, that this book really takes off.
There are 80 (80!) original pieces of fiction and nonfiction collected here, by some of the world's greatest writers. The Book of Men was conceived as a fundraiser for the charity Narritive, which strives to reach the voiceless of the world through the power of storytelling. These stories approach the concept of masculinity from many unexpected directions. The Book of Men is one of the best literary anthologies to come out this year!
