Handbook for Lightning Strike Survivors by Michele Young-Stone

Separated by time and space, from middle America to the coasts, Becca and Buckley grow up in the 50’s through the 80’s, connected tenuously by the strikes of lightning that changed their lives. Across the Nightingale Floor by Lian Hearn

Samurai codes, marriage politics, secret ninja heritages, teenage true love and, of course, the over-whelming drive for vengeance for those dead.
