A letter written in 1939 and found 50 years later is the inspiration for The Lost Letter. It’s a modern-day mystery mixed with historical fiction. Katie’s father is in a nursing home; when she takes his stamp collection to be evaluated, it turns out there is a story bigger than the value of this rare stamp. This sets her off to Germany find out the rest of the story. I love a love story mixed with a mystery and I found this one to be a compelling read. - Clytia                               

I just finished this book, and all I can say is "WOW". The closer you get to the end, the faster you will be turning the pages. Captivating and thought provoking I loved it!!!

Based on a historical scandal, this book is about coming of age in the 1940's and includes a modern day mystery. Georgia Tann, director of the Tennessee Children's Home Society, is kidnapping and selling children to wealthy families all over the county. Riveting and at times wrenching, it's ultimately uplifting and reminds us that the heart doesn't forget. - Clytia

This is a beautiful story about love, friendship, elephants, the circus, and a mystery concerning a family history of abuse. The story is told by two women, with equally compelling voices, decades apart. It's heartbreaking, with moments of joy. I like having my heart tugged by what I’m reading, but if you’ve enjoyed my other recommendations, you'll love this one. - Clytia

A moving story about a woman who gives up her own ornithological studies to follow her husband to his secret assignment at Los Alamos. But when she meets a Vietnam vet, she comes to realize there are choices she never thought possible. I really liked this one! - Clytia

A Vietnam vet returns home and finds his specialty is rescuing children from abusive situations. It’s the only job that provides the adrenaline he needs that matches the war.  Keeping Watch  takes psychological suspense to its highest level. It’s also the best book I’ve read that conveys the psychological horrors of that war and it’s my favorite Laurie King stand-alone title. —Clytia

This is an amazing look into what happens to the human body when it is struck by lightning. After being struck by lightning for the second time, this chronicles the physical, emotional and spiritual consequences of this event. She also examines the fascinating ecosystem of the human heart. This is one you won’t forget. –Clytia

This has to be one of my favorite true animal stories. It’s a Disney movie waiting to happen. It would be fun to read out loud on a car trip, but there’s no wrong way to enjoy this timeless story of friendship.
