The Love & Lemons Cookbook by Jeanine Donofrio

Donofrio’s cookbook encourages cooks to be creative and inventive and offers dozens of fun recipes that are both healthy and filling. Focused on plant-based meals, The Love & Lemons Cookbook celebrates simple seasonal and fresh ingredients in the same way her award-winning blog (of the same name) does. My favorite thing about Donofrio’s book is that each chapter highlights a different vegetable, making it easy to prepare meals from whatever you have in your refrigerator. Enjoy! —Ashley

Stitch 'n Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook by Debbie Stoller

Learning to knit isn’t easy as Stoller warns, “so be prepared to do a lot more bitching than stitching.” But luckily, this classic book (and great reference) is funny enough to help you through those moments of frustration! But hang in there, you’ll get it! And if the illustrations throw you off, a short online video might do just the trick to unweaving you from any confusion, helping you keep your *stitch* together.  –Ash

Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs by Lisa Randall

This is the first work of theoretical physics I’ve read and I loved it! In Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs, Randall artfully introduces her theory in ways that are accessible to an amateur audience. A disk of dark matter, she argues, may have been responsible for rerouting that infamous meteor toward Earth, resulting in the extinction of the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. If you’re not already one, Randall will leave you feeling like a physicist!  --Ashley

The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende

Best-selling author Isabel Allende’s latest masterpiece is about a passionate love, heart-breaking loss, and the lasting regret of sacrifices born out of fear and social convention. The Japanese Lover is truly a treat to read. At times it brought tears to my eyes, yet it inspired a sense of joy in me, with its understanding of how the fulfillment we find in love can ultimately come from within.  —Ashley

Sharing her passion for interior design while inviting us into her home, award winning actress, comedian and bestselling author Ellen DeGeneres reveals some of her most treasured interior spaces. Ellen’s style, modern with an eye to earthy substance, has inspired in me an appreciation for soft transitional spaces that bring the outside world in. Rice Noodle Fish by Matt Goulding

Rice Noodle Fish is a visual and literary treat that will leave you hungry and planning a trip to Japan. Much more than a look at the country’s cuisine, it is also about the history and culture of Japan, and about the people the author meets on his travels—including chefs with fire in their eyes and tea masters of Kyoto. Readers will be impressed by the literary quality of his narrative and the copious amount of pictures, tips and bits of information sprinkled throughout the book.   —Ashley
