Ms. Marvel is insecure, courageous, and human (mostly). An accident
gives Kamala Kahn superpowers, allowing her confidence and an escape
from her Muslim American divided culture. Yet Kamala learns that life in
the mask takes a toll on life out of it. She juggles friendships,
cultures, and her Muslim parents and American identity while developing
superpowers and keeping her crime fighting secret. Kamala’s resolve is
tested when a real supervillain kidnaps her friend for devious purposes.

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the original Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), but when someone new was set to take up the mantel, I was understandably nervous. Kamala Khan exceeded all expectations. She's funny, excitable, and every bit the awkward teenager you'd expect. You don't need to know the whole (or any of the) history to love Kamala and this volume.

— Ivy

There is no superhero we currently need more than Ms. Marvel. An American Muslim teenager, Kamala Khan, embodies the classic superhero—a normal person trying to balance regular life with doing what’s right—and at the same time holds up a mirror to who we are and what we want to be in the 21st century. Plus, the book is fantastically wonderful and fun.
