You’d be hard pressed to think of a more poignant moment for Courting Equality to be released (now in paperback), at least for us here in California. This book documents “the inspiring story of America’s first successful battle for gay marriage—the court cases, the protests, and, finally, the weddings!” The moving photos capture more than what the fight for equality looks like: they evoke the emotion behind the fight. I think we’ve all been waiting for this—a hilarious
memoir of a gay porn writer who just so happens to be a lay minister in the Catholic church. I love it because it’s the story of a fight to reclaim a faith from those who would exclude homosexuality. You might love it for the excellent characters and their sympathetic portrayals, or maybe just for the tongue-in-cheek sidebars.                             —Nici
