Please join us for our Community
Book Group—a monthly book group open to everyone in the community and
centered on works by Bay Area authors. Bookshop’s next Community Book Group selection is Mahbod Seraji’s powerful new novel, Rooftops of Tehran.
Set in 1970s Iran during the shah's regime, Seraji's wonderful
coming-of-age story is at times funny and sweet as well as
thought-provoking and heart-wrenching. Booklist calls it "a powerful tale of the
universal longings of teenagers compounded by the horrors of tyranny."
Julie
Minnis will lead our facilitated discussion of Rooftops of Tehran at 7:30pm, and
author Mahbod Seraji will join us at 8:00pm to discuss his writing
process and answer your questions. Like all great book groups meetings, there will be snacks and tea!
