Amazon vs. Independents
New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest
We loved this New Yorker cover and thought that coming up with a caption for it would make a great contest. We knew that Bookshop Santa Cruz customers could come up with something terrific!
Thanks to everyone for submitting their entries. We had plenty of laughs and it was hard to narrow it down. We hope you enjoy the winning entries!
And the winners are . . .
First Place: “Until recently, Adam believed Susan was a real catch.”
Submitted by: Denise Booth
Second Place: Et tu, literati?
Submitted by: Joanne Frasca
Third Place: It’s not a book, I promise! It’s a shirt made by children laborers in a 3rd World country.
Submitted by: Bob Evans
Since its inception in 1925, The New Yorker has been world famous for its cartoons. Not surprisingly, the cartoon caption contest has quickly become one of the magazine’s most popular features. Located on the back page, the contest invites readers to craft their own captions for the weekly cartoon.
